“The Proof is in the Pudding”
That’s a fairly common saying you’ve likely heard a million times. Honestly, I’m really not sure what to make of it, but it’s been around so long we’re going to run with it.
To wit, since Motoflux is reaching a point where we’re about to demonstrate proof of concept, this test bench must be the pudding that contains the proof. Right?
Mike built this especially to measure the radial director’s rotating torque and the armature’s rotating torque separately. The radial director is driven by a small DC motor that runs around 20 rpm. The armature has followed the radial director very well, which is a big step forward in the evolution of the two-phase M3 (Motor 3).
In Mike’s own words, “This is a high-ground space that took a lot of development.”
We’re not done yet though. While Mike is dialing in the test bench with M3 x33 (Motor 3, Experiment 33), Lich is already developing the next generation. M4 will be a three-phase design with a fiberglass chassis. All this takes time and relentless pursuit of the dream… After all, there’s no instruction manual for new inventions!
Stay tuned.
